I’ve had a couple people ask me how to change their WordPress Admin password recently so I thought I’d do a quick post with step-by-step instructions. It’s a good idea to change your key passwords at least twice a year. David Sparks of Mac Sparky fame always recommends that you change yours when you switch to/from Daylight Savings Time.
Since you’re taking the time to change your password make sure it’s secure. For example don’t use your child’s name, street name or anything that can be guessed by someone who knows something about you. In today’s world that’s just about anyone. Choose something that’s easy to remember but hard to guess. Something like “bikeflightlard” (that literally just popped into my head).
How to change the WordPress Admin Password
Log into WordPress using the Admin username and password

From the WordPress Dashboard choose Users / Your Profile

In the Profile window scroll down to the New Password secton

Enter your new password (make it good) in both boxes and click Update Profile
Don’t choose something obvious like your pet’s name.
