There are many ways to backup your WordPress site, but my very favorite is Backupbuddy. This easy-to-use backup plugin is made by the folks at iThemes. It’s not free, but well worth the investment.
Backupbuddy gives you the ability to backup your entire site or just your database with one click of the mouse. It also gives you the abiility to schedule backups as often as yo like and even automatically send them offsite to another location for safekeeping.
